ROOM 413 IGLOO HQ, The North Pole

Slurk flipped a switch and the intercom crackled into life.

“It’s done.”

There was another harsh burst of static and the cold voice drifted into the room.

“Good. Did it go as I said?”

Slurk nodded.

“Exactly. His words were going to be just as you predicted.”

The voice cackled sharply.

“Excellent. I expect he was rather taken aback.”

Slurk nodded again then a shiver ran through him. Even he felt some misgivings about what he was getting into. And whom he was getting into it with.

His hesitation was felt.

“Don’t lose your nerve now Slurk. There is much still to do and remember who got you where you are.”

“I know and I won’t fail you.”

“Good, you had better not.”
